Praying With Authority

  • If you continue in My Word, you are truly my disciples, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31,32. RSV
  • I have given you authority…to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19
  • " I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”  Matthew 16:19

Armed with these truths we are faced with an incredible adventure as “ we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  2 Corinthians 10:5

On the cross Jesus announced, “It is finished!” referring to His finished work in redeeming mankind.  He immediately descended into the home of the enemy returning with the keys of death and Hades.  Satan no longer has rightful ownership of even that which he is prince over.  The battle is won! Victory is secured!

  • Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
  • “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
  • Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then…
    • With the breastplate of righteousness in place.
    • With the belt of truth buckled around your waist
    • With your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace
    • Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
    • Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is THE WORD OF GOD.
    • And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”   Eph 6:10-17
