Breakthrough Team

Doug & Karen Braun

In the summer of 2005, Doug & Karen prayed, “God our answer is yes, what is the question, keep us from any distraction.” That faith adventure in prayer led to the development and launching of Breakthrough, a call to God’s people to also “Inquire, Hear and Obey for the Advance of God’s Kingdom.”

Doug and Karen’s journey of 25 years together began with the approach of, “Two Trusting Jesus.” Little did they know how the theme of their wedding would become their test and their mission! They testify to experiencing God’s faithfulness and can trust Jesus because he has empowered them for marketplace ministry, bankruptcy, ten years of infertility, two failed adoptions, fifteen years of pastoral ministry, failed health, extended family crisis, the loss of family members and working together.

Doug has also pastored for fifteen years and his passion is to see the church revived and operating in the full power of God’s Spirit and Christ’s love.  Karen has directed MWC for the past seven years and her passion is to spark obedience to truth and influence an army, that is the bride of Christ, to stand prepared and ready to obey the LORD’s order. Together their passion is to advance the kingdom of God and serve the body of Christ to this end.

Direct answers to their long term prayers are their two miracle sons, Caleb Dale - "God is faithful through the valley," and Logan Tobias -"From the hollow the Lord is good."  who arrived ten years into their marriage.

Nellie From

Emmie Stanley

As a first generation Canadian, I am truly in love with Canada. As a first generation Christian, I am sold out for the cause of Jesus Christ, and am committed to seeing this beautiful country transformed by and for Him.

My greatest joy in life is spending time together with my family, and watching as God’s plan unfolds for each one of them. My son is an officer in the Navy and is enjoying all the adventures that his job brings his way. My daughter is currently in Bible school preparing to be a pilot on the mission field.  My husband and I are new “empty nesters” and are enjoying being a couple again.

I have been involved with Mothers Who Care, and now Breakthrough Prayer Ministry for twelve years.  During that time I have had the joy of seeing people come together from different backgrounds to find unity in the understanding of the cross, and the desire to see Jesus move in our schools and communities through prayer.

As I have walked in the call of God on my life, He has given me a growing depth of love for those who have not yet come to know Him. I have had the joy of seeing Him work as I follow His lead in praying for others and presenting the Gospel. It is my desire to walk with God through each day and be His hands and His feet as my heart beats with His for those who so desperately need His love.

Tracey Byle

Tracey went through a transforming encounter with God ten years ago that greatly affected her life, marriage and family.  Thanks to God and the faithful spirit-led prayers of her mother-in-law she was brought to a place of conviction and confession of sin, which took her and her husband Ron from hopelessness to a place of profound joy and peace.  Thank you Lord for grace!

God did not stop there but also did wonderful things in the lives of their children taking their oldest son Glen from being behind in his school work and constantly occupied with playing video games to loving fatherless kids in his church, passionately involved in worship and trained as a Bio-Medical Technician.  As well as beautifully transforming their daughter Carmen who continues to grow in Him while being a student in Trinity Western University’s nursing program.  What a great God!

Tracey’s passion is prayer, the more she has understood that prayer is a dynamic dialogue with a living active God the more she has seen how this transformational activity changes the world we live in. It was no surprise then when Tracey was led to be involved with a Mothers Who Care prayer group alongside of Breakthrough’s Emmie Stanley, praying for students and teachers for 7 years that this became an incredible blessing in her life.

“I remember Karen taking up the leadership of Mothers Who Care and after hearing her share thinking:  I would love to be a part of all that.  And now I am so grateful to Emmie for hearing God when He brought me to her mind for this position at Breakthrough.  God’s plans for us are better than those we have for ourselves and He knows the end from the beginning. Help us to learn to trust in you more.”
